Aaron Veatch

Aaron is single with no kids and lives in Sacramento, California. He works as a regional sales manager and took up golf at the age of 7.

TIE TO THE MONTEMAR - Aaron met Nate Udy around 10 years ago through a mutual group of friends and they started playing soccer together. Aaron grew up in El Dorado HIlls, went to college in San Diego, and is now back in Sacramento. In the winter you can find him snowboarding and in the summer he’s golfing.

ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MONTEMAR - Aaron is donating a box of custom Titleist AVXs with the words “Montemar 2024” on them. Thanks, Aaron!

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN 2024 - Aaron has a nice advantage of being buddies with our scorekeeper. Nate is one of a few people who actually understand how easy this scoring system and that makes him one of a few people who know how to navigate it. Aaron’s got the right kind of index to find himself a jacket some day. It won’t happen this year due to systems built in to make it really tough on rookies, but Aaron could be a competitor in years to come. That all said, his scramble team is solid, his game is solid, and if he catches some luck in the draft there’s no reason to think he can’t crack the top 10.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN 2024 - Aaron had a blast in Idaho. I know this because I saw him on the dance floor! He also played some pretty solid golf, and is one of the few returners who’s handicap actually shrunk based on last year’s opening round. The opening round 79 made a statement that Aaron was in Idaho to compete and he was in striking distance after day one. A little tough luck in the draft put him in a rough spot for the final day and him and his partner came up short to Diaz and Udy. Taking advantage of ALL the easy points would have bumped him 15 spots on the board.

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN 2025 - A little more luck in the draft and random pairings could work wonders and capitalizing on all the easy points will be essential. Building a scramble team that fits the format would be a smart play as well. Veatch and Diaz are good enough to get to 5 under alone, should they grab another stick and try to get to 6 under, or should they pair with some high handicaps and try to score high in all the divisions? I know what I would do. Veatch fell off a bit as the tournament and fun progressed in Idaho. There’s lots of dance floors in Reno and they’re open all night. Will Aaron have anything left come Sunday?

 ODDS TO WIN – 44-1

FUN FACT – Nate says Aaron does a yearly trip to St. George Utah and Mesquite Nevada. This is a trip very high on my list of possible next Montemar locations.
